We pledge to Stand Against Racism

Our CEO Amy Gelles recently shared the following message regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion.

We have all collectively and individually dealt with so many issues in the last year. Our psyches have been awakened by a global pandemic and the constant reminders of how deeply racism still exists in our society. As we all find our way to getting a vaccine, we are starting to see COVID–19 in our rear-view mirror, and I hope that is providing some relief.

The question in front of us is now is whether, as the innovative and effective agency that we are, we are willing to do the hard work necessary to press for profound and lasting changes when it comes to our practices of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

As your long-time CEO, I say yes, we can; honestly, we must. I want to push us to establish an anti-racist organizational culture tied to our B.A.S.I.C Tenets and based on behaviors and procedures that we will develop and implement together.

To begin, TGCW has signed the YWCA’s Stand Against Racism pledge.

With the executive committee and leadership team involvement, there will be more discussions, training, and shared readings to come. The pledge is just a humble start.

I look forward to working with everyone on this most important journey. I know we will see our way - as the wonderful TGCW that we are - to become a more thoughtful, confident, and inclusive agency better prepared to be anti-racist in any way we can.

- Amy Gelles, Chief Executive Officer
