FutureWorks 2020 - April Session
Due to COVID-19, we are currently on pause for our FutureWorks sessions. You can still express interest by completing the registration form. We will alert you when we are holding our next session.
With seemingly no end to the development projects popping up throughout Westchester County, many young people are thinking about starting a career in construction. The problem? They don’t know how or where to start. The solution: FutureWorks, a FREE certifications and training program for people ages 16-24 years old. FutureWorks has been available to New Rochelle and Mount Vernon residents for a year, and new enrollment is now open for 2020.
“In just four weeks, participants can complete up to eight certifications and the relevant training needed to start their year – and their future – on a new path,” says Amrika Sieunarine, the director of the Center for College & Careers at The Guidance Center of Westchester.
In addition to the certifications and training, participants take part in hands-on job experiences, resume building workshops, and employment fairs.
The four-week course runs 9 AM – 5 PM, Monday through Friday, and takes place at The Guidance Center of Westchester offices at 256 Washington Street in Mount Vernon. Orientation takes place April 3 and the course runs April 6 through May 1, 2020.
FutureWorks if funded through the Westchester Community Foundation.
