Ambrose-Washington elected Board Chair
Mitzi Ambrose-Washington has been elected board chair of The Guidance Center of Westchester (TGCW) effective July 1, 2019.
Ms. Ambrose-Washington joined TGCW's board in 2015 and has held several key positions including Board Secretary and Co-Chair of the gala committee and an active member of TGCW's Center for College & Careers advisory board. She is the first African-American to chair the agency's board.
"Helping individuals overcome barriers is near and dear to my heart," said Ms. Ambrose-Washington. “I'm thrilled to be the new board chair of this dynamic agency where everyone is committed to helping others discover new ways to learn, work, and thrive."
Professionally, Ms. Ambrose-Washington is an award-winning, performance-driven sales professional with a history of successfully promoting billion dollar brands in the media and pharmaceutical industries. Ms. Ambrose-Washington currently works for BriovaRx Specialty Pharmacy, a division of UnitedHealth Group, helping physicians and patients get the necessary treatment for multiple sclerosis and manage their chronic disease.
She has served on numerous boards including the African American Advisory Board of Westchester County and The New Rochelle YMCA. She has also helped the community by serving as the 2016-17 president of the Junior League of Bronxville. She is passionate about serving the needs of her community and all areas of interest that support TGCW's mission.
Ms. Ambrose-Washington is a proud graduate of Howard University and an avid supporter of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). She currently lives in Westchester County with her husband, Chris Washington and their daughter, Morgan.
Ms. Ambrose-Washington succeeds Gene Rostov who served as board chair since 2016. Mr. Rostov’s accomplishments include increasing the number of board members to its largest size and working to raise a record $2. 2 million during his term. Mr. Rostov will continue to provide advice and leadership as immediate past chair and will actively work on several key committees.
