The Lives We've Touched

Our clients are our best asset. Their stories of success and trimph speak volumes to the work we do. Here are a few of their stories:

Robert’s parents say that The Guidance Center’s new Universal Pre-Kindergarten has helped their child learn how to express himself and deal with frustration better. Robert says: “I love my teachers and my school!”

Coping with his own mental health issues and trying to raise two small children alone has presented many challenges for Carlos. He says his therapist helps him with all kinds of issues as well as resources for his children.

"My life wasn’t easy before I found the Center for College and Careers,” says Mount Vernon High School graduate Kareema. Her family was very poor and homeless at times; her mother was hospitalized due to the stress. Kareema says that The Guidance Center’s program helped her get a job, maintain her grades and set goals for her future. “Without this program, I wouldn’t have the courage to do the things I do now.”

Sophia is a regular participant in The Guidance Center’s day treatment program for mentally ill and developmentally disabled senior citizens. She says: “I thought I was the only person having problems but I found a community of people with similar issues through The Guidance Center.”
